Left Behind Left Behind - A Novel of the Earth's Last Days by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

The Rapture, as preached by Born-Again Christians, is when Jesus Christ will gather his true-believers up to heaven, leaving the rest of the world to their own devices. This book, is about what happened when the Rapture occurred.

Rayford Steele, a pilot for Pan-Con Airways, is at the half-way point of his Chicago to London flight when his head flight attendant, Hattie Durham tells him that some of the passengers are missing, including all of the children. The mystery and confusion deepens when it is discovered that all over the world, people have disappeared leaving only their clothing and jewelry behind. Rayford, his daughter Chloe, a pastor and a newsmagazine writer all find one another and fine that they will have to lead the fight against the antiChrist in the coming Armegeddon.

I devoured this book. I read it in two days and enjoyed it immensely. I am rather daunted by the fact that there are, I think, 13 sequels to this novel. I hope that they are all this good. This book really makes you think, at the same time it reads like any of the best mystery/horror novels I've read in a long time!

Tribulation Force Tribulation Force - The Continuing Drama of Those Left Behind - by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

Rayford Steele, his daughter, Chloe, Pastor Bruce Barnes and journalist Cameron (Buck) Williams have banded together to form the Tribulation Force. Rayford and Buck are pressed into service of the man, Nicolae Carpathia, that they begin to believe may be the antiChrist. Nicolae has burst onto the world political scene, taken over the United Nations and signed a peace agreement with the nation of Israel. and has introduced policies that will bring the world together as a global village. In the meantime, God's judgement has started as predicted in the Book of Revelations.

Mixing Biblical prophecy, the apocalypse, some romance and a lot of conspiracy, Tribulation Force continues the saga. This is another good book. I must warn you - the writing is not difficult or breathtaking - this book is entertaining, suspenseful and is quick-moving.

Soul Harvest Nicolae - The Rise of AntiChrist - by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

Great Potentate Nicolae Carpathia is consolidating his power with a one-world economy, plus the ownership of the world media and an ecumenical church, led by a hand-picked pontiff. Rayford Steele and Buck Williams, along with the rest of the Tribulation Force, continue their struggle to survive and protect their families in the midst of global war and destruction. Nicolae is shown to be a cruel tyrant, rather than the kind and gentle leader that most people take him for. The Tribulation Force realizes that Nicolae is the antichrist predicted in the Bible. And yet, both Rayford and Buck are still working for the man. In the meantime, the Tribulation Force try to figure out what evil will be next generated by this man or his minions. And in the midst of all this, the Wrath of the Lamb occurs, throwing everyone into chaos as they try to find each other in the tragedy.

Keep reading! These books are easy to read and very entertaining - if a little thought-provoking and/or scary at times.

Soul Harvest Soul Harvest - The World Takes Sides - by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

So far, this is the most adventurous and exciting of the book, as the Tribulation Force and Nicolae Carpathia get ready to square off. Having survived the global earthquake, Ray and Buck search desperately for their wives. Once again, the book takes us all over the world from Palatine, Illinois to the bottom of the Tigris River.

I have to confess, I am hooked on this series. The books are very easy to read, yet complex enough to keep the pages turning, faster and faster. Using Revelations to spur on the plot, the authors of this series of books have a real winner here!

Apollyon Apollyon - The Destroyer is Unleashed - By Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

The great meeting of the Witnesses is the center point for this fast-paced, dramatic and sometimes really horrifying book. Tens of thousands of believers assemble in Jerusalem to hear the ministry of their rabbi/teacher Tsion Ben-Judah. What will Nicolae's reaction be? What will the two witness, Eli and Moishe do when Carpathia imposes restrictions on their evangelizing? Will the Tribulation Force be allowed to attend the meeting and leave in peace? What is the fifth Trumpet Judgement? All of these questions are answered in this episode of the Left Behind Series. Rayford discovers the truth about his beloved wife, Amanda and Hattie, his former flight attendant and ex-lover of Nicolae.

Another winner here! I recommend this book, but please read the entire series - starting with "Left Behind". It's worth it!

Assassins Assassins - The Great Tribulation Unfolds by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

Halfway through the Tribulation time, it has been 3 1/2 years since Nicolae Carpathia signed an agreement with the Israeli government, guaranteeing its protection. And the Tribulation Force struggles to continue its ongoing ministry and missions. The head of the One-World faith, Peter II's life is in jeopardy. The two Witness are approaching their "Due Time". Rayford is struggling with himself to control his constant rage and frustration. New members are joining the Tribulation Force from all over the world, but two people the Force most want, Dr. Chaim Rosenberg and Hattie Durham, have yet to commit. 200 Million demonic horsemen are traveling the world; their mission is to bring death to 1/3 of the remaining population of the World. And through all of this, Nicolae Carpathia rules over a world that is becoming more and more corrupt. Will someone on the Tribulation Force fulfill the prophecy of Carpathia's death which will lead to his resurrection as the AntiChrist?

Still an easy read, Assassins is another good book!

Indwelling Indwelling - The Beast Takes Possession by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B.Jenkins

While awaiting the resurrection of the AntiChrist, the Tribulation Force finds itself, once again, all over the globe and in serious danger of being discovered. Especially now that Hattie Durham has resurfaced. Unlike the previous novels, this one takes place over just three days (the others have covered months and years). While I thought that the writing was a bit less compelling that the previous novels, at least until about the last third of the book, this is an addictive series and I can hardly wait until the next book is released. This is a good read - easy, if a little slower and more violent than the ones that came before. Still, it is a  good read!
The Mark by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B.Jenkins

Getting back into the action again, The Mark starts moving and just gets faster and faster. Again, the writing is uncomplicated; this is an easy read and moves quite quickly. One of the reasons, I think, is because the scriptural messages are started to be repeated - a lot! However, the is an exciting chapter of the series and well worth time!

The message and plots are very simple - but still, I'm addicted to this series. Hurry up Mssrs. LaHaye and Jenkins! I want to read the next one!!!!
Desecration: Antichrist Takes the Throne by Tim LaHaye, Jerry B. Jenkins

This is the best of the last several books! The Revelations prophecies of the wrath of God begins here. The torments inflicted on those that have taken the Mark of the Beast are horrifying, and the major characters are faced with more and more difficulties in functioning in a world run by the antichrist.

Miracles and torments.... this book kept my interest and had me devouring this book! I recommend it highly - but stay with the format of the series - if you start with this book, you won't really get it. This is a series that needs to be started at the beginning with "Left Behind".
The Remnant by Tim F. Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins

Martyrdom, incredible escapes, heavenly visitations.... all of these and more in this book. To be very honest, I'm getting a little tired of this series - things have become too simple. For example, millions of believers move to Petra in the Middle East - but there's no description of what Petra looks like. I would have appreciated some fleshing out of the characters and the locations, but regardless, this book follows along the series becoming more and more, well... gross seems to be a good word here describing the torments of the non-believers.
Armageddon by Tim Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins

Well, in my opinion, this series is really outliving itself. Basically, I'm a little tired of the scriptural readings that are repeated and repeated and paraphrase and repeated and repeated. However, I'm obsessive and feel that 10 books into the series, that I must finish. I don't really recommend this book to anyone, except the die-hard fans of the series. You may enjoy it - but I'll be really glad when Christ finally appears.
Glorious Appearing by Tim F. Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins

I'm going to be completely honest about this book. I read it and finished reading it (!) simply because I'd already read the first 11 novels. This is simply put, the worst of the series. I have serious problems with the authors' portrayal of The Savior, his return and the punishment of the non-believers. The writing is simple and uncomplicated, but boring.

I don't recommend this book, unless you have, like me, a compulsion to finish what you've started.
